A smoky spin on the classic, crispy, stretchy mozzarella sticks.
250g smoked caciotta, cut into 1cm sticks
1 cup plain flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt & pepper, to taste
Vegetable Oil for frying
Step 1
Place flour in one bowl, eggs in another, and mix breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a third.
Step 2
Dredge each cheese stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Place onto a lined baking tray and repeat until all the cheese is used. Freeze for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
Step 3
Heat oil in a pot to 180°C and fry in batches until golden and crispy, about 2–3 minutes. Drain on paper towel and serve hot!
